What brought you to Fanshawe?
I went to Fanshawe for a few different programs. I started with pre health science, then moved onto medical radiation technology and in the end graduated from the nursing program. I knew nursing was always my calling and to attend school close to home was even better.
Tell us about your favourite Fanshawe experience.
I enjoyed the instructors I had in my program. They were all very knowledgeable and supportive. I think my favorite experience was actually on my graduation day when I had made a significant change to my hair and when one of my instructors recognized me and asked me how my recent job interview went and thought I was crazy for where I took my first job!!
What impact has Fanshawe had on your life?
Fanshawe and the nursing program provided a tremendous foundation for my nursing career. I feel that the hands-on style for training built confidence and expertise you can't get from books only.
What are you up to now?
I am actually still working in the same position I interviewed for the week of graduation. I am an RN in a Level 1 trauma center downtown Toronto. I have also spent time working with an education program for high-school students about injury prevention. As of this year I have also taken on the role of the honored hero for the leukemia & lymphoma society of canada in Toronto as I am a recent lymphoma survivor.
