What brought you to Fanshawe?

I first came to Fanshawe for Business Insurance, and I honestly didn't expect to come back. But I did — the plumbing program brought me in a second time, and that's where my career actually took root. I've since earned my Red Seal in both plumbing and steamfitting, and I run Triton Home Service here in London. The part I didn't see coming was returning as an instructor. Standing at the front of the same shop I trained in, teaching apprentices the trade, closed a loop I never planned. Fanshawe has been less a school for me than a long-running relationship.

Tell us about your favourite Fanshawe experience.

Twenty years after graduating from Fanshawe, the friends I made in both Business Insurance and the plumbing program are still my main circle. What surprises me most is seeing where everyone landed—from shop seats to management, inspection, or successful new careers. We still reminisce about the old plumbing shop and our favorite instructors. The school gave me my credentials, but the people are what actually stuck.

What impact has Fanshawe had on your life?

It's hard to measure the impact Fanshawe has had on my life. It took me from Business Insurance to plumbing. Along the way I've taken night classes — project management, other special interest courses. Whenever I needed to learn something, Fanshawe was there. That's twenty-plus years of the same school showing up for me at different stages. Watching the campus grow over that time has been interesting too. It's a lot bigger than when I started. Fanshawe has always been there for me.

What are you up to now?

Right now I'm running Triton Home Service here in London. We specialize in plumbing, hydronics, and heating — residential service, commercial work, backflow prevention, water treatment. I hold my Red Seal in both plumbing and steamfitting, plus my gas fitting licence. These days my role has shifted more toward the business side: estimating, sales, and development, with journeypersons and apprentices doing the work in the field. After twenty-six years in the trade, I still get a kick out of a well-designed hydronic system. And my apprentices go through the same Fanshawe shop I did — and taught in.
